The best part of this book, the meals are very easy to make and the flavors are remarkable, just like a restaurant. Well, he has "LOVED". My husband is picky and likes meat and a side, no spices, just the flavor of the meat. Once you have your pantry stocked, which is a little pricey initially, you can almost make anything with just the main ingredient so it appears the pantry will more than pay for itself in the long run. I was looking for a cook book that was healthy but did not have recipes that taste like cardboard. I wanted to be able to make quick, easy, delicious meals for both of us. every recipe I have made so far and I have made meals from this book the entire last week.
In looking @ the other recipes, though, these recipes seem to be less stringent than the 'Cook Yourself Thin" recipes. I only made the turkey meatloaf so far--which was pretty awesome. The only reason for 4 stars is that I haven't made enough of the recipes to give it a higher rating. When I bought "Cook Yourself Thin", this cookbook was recommended. I've never watch Elie Krieger's show on the food network, but it got good ratings, so I figured that I'd try it. Although Elie's recipes still have healthier, low-cal substitutions, they read like real recipes would read (especially the baked goods), which makes me feel that they will make a better product.
Ellie Krieger's cookbook, The Foods You Crave: Lucious recipes for a healthy life, is delightful. She gives a healthy twist to some old favorites.some great tips.
It makes it much easier to feel proud of, and excited to serve. All the meals are very pretty as a bonus. The corn veggie soup= souper yum. My mom called me and said the book sounded like something I would like since I strive to cook with out any additives, preservatives, and get the most nutrition out of the meal, WHILE still being yummy. The buckwheat blueberry pancakes = yum. Easy to make, well laid out recipes, not hard to get of ingredients at all.
The whole thing is well worth getting and trying to cook from for a couple weeks. That goal is perfectly met by this book. The two muffins in here are to die for (why are there only two.). Meatball hero sandwich= yum yum. EVERY meal I've made from it has been good. I got this book slightly on a whim.
I've made at least ten things, and everyone has been a total winner. And the list goes on and on.
I keep giving them away because I want famiy and friends to have it. And, if that's not enough, it provides nutrition and calorie information. I am getting ready to buy my fourth copy of this cookbook. It has great but still easy to make recipes; it has great pictures; it provides ideas for the entire meal.
